"my father once told me..." whispers pablo as he glides his way around me during the launch event for the Room 19 trilogy, "...he told me, the moment I was conceived, there was suddenly a great dust storm, appearing out of nowhere, within my father's spiritual mentor's compound, which was situated somewhere very deep in the bowels of berkshire....it blinded many and damaged some garden ornaments within the compound, it very much felt, I am told, like an 'event....' and with that, the multi-award-nominee ends his circling of me and evaporates into the zeitgeist once more.
and I? I am his friend and associate Decoux Lung. when I first met pablo it was 1994 and he was in the middle of a now aborted installation piece which looked at the life of a sugar cube, from the cube's 'free life' through to its mass production and finally its consumption. a masterpiece, or so we thought, it's working title was 'manufactured weapon (the journey of.)' but funding fell through and pablo was forced to sleep in my bath. he has been a friend ever since.
records of his early life are sketchy at best, pablo believes he may have been a product of cold war experimentation during the early 1970s. "I have very strange birthmarks on my inner thighs and other intimate areas, they resemble characters from the Cyrillic alphabet. in addition to this, my grandfather was called cyril and I felt a real connection with him."
for the puropses of this section of his website, I asked pablo if the stories were true about his conception in an abandoned west london lido and that he was allowed to name himself. "all of it is true. i am very playful with my childhood, it haunts to me to this day and yet drives some of my thought processes to discover, to be a fool."
"after many years of building a name in the conceptual, alternative, underground art scene, whadever you wanna call it, I've now come to a point where I can help others and thats why I've done this Room 19 project for Imperial Health Charity and their Covid-19 Relief project."
Room 19 is, indeed, pablo's current project, a 3 seperate audio release commitment to a concept mix narrative.
"its like nothing I have ever or has ever been done, or may ever not be done, ever again," states pablo, "the definition of a concept mix is to bring the elements of what you want to say, your statement, together in a piece of music which is made up of so many different layers that your voice is heard, its heard through the narrative you construct in a concept mix. that is a concept mix. Room 19 is my attempt at a concept mix narrative over 3 pieces. its like nothing you have ever heard before or may not ever hear again."
